In the context of Udham Singh Nagar district, Tharus and Buksa tribes are original inhabitants of this area. According to government land records, they own a large tract of land, but in reality they do not have land even for their livelihood. A very large portion of land is in illegal occupation of no-tribals.

Saksham in collaboration of Find Your Feet and under the auspices of Bhoomi Adhikar Manch organised workshop from October 20 to 23, 2008 to understand illegal occupations through land measurement and inter-relationship of land measurements.
