A Review and Planning workshop in the form of a “consultation on Brick Kiln Worker’s Rights” was organized by PEPUS on 2nd and 3rd of September 2009 in Allahabad in which participants from different organizations as well Brick Kiln skilled workers from Raebarelli, Allahabad, Kausambi and Fatehpur had attended.

The outcomes of the 27th March and 22nd May 2009 along with few major concerns like:

• Workers who migrate to other states from Uttar Pradesh
• Workers who migrate to Uttar Pradesh from other states of India

Social issues and securities of their women and children were also reviewed and discussed in details on 2nd of September 2009.

It was also decided that the following steps would be taken for strengthening the positions of the brick kiln workers

1. Issuing Identity Cards
2. Contract / Agreements with the Brick Kiln owners on Registered Stamp Paper that would be submitted to the Labour Department as a Declaration
3. Increase membership of original BPVSS
4. Listing of Active members
5. Discussions on identified problems
6. Increase Women’s Participation
7. Expansion of BPVSS
